Divine Mercy Sunday
This Sunday, March 30th, is Divine Mercy Sunday. This wonderful feast instituted on April 30th, 2000 during the canonization Mass of St. Faustina, is a wonderful opportunity for the faithful to embrace the endless font of mercy that Christ won for us by His sacrifice on the Cross.
This feast is special in that it was requested to be instituted by the Lord Himself. In St. Faustina's
diary the Lord requests a feast of His Mercy 14 times. The Church in Her infinite wisdom has instituted this feast for the Sunday after Easter Sunday.
On this wonderful feast a plenary indulgence is offered to all the faithful. The normal conditions for a plenary indulgence are required( a sacramental confession and reception of Holy Communion within 7 days prior or following Divine Mercy Sunday and praying for the Holy Fathers intentions) with the addition of the reciting the Our Father, the Creed, and a devout prayer recognizing the Mercy of Christ(Merciful Jesus, I trust in you!) all to be said with a spirit totally detached from all sin, even venial.
Let us all make the Lord happy on this feast by praising and receiving His endless mercy.
Mater Salvatoris, ora pro nobis!
